Auto Repair Tips

The Benefits of Buying Used Auto Parts

Idealistically, cars would never require repair work or break down entirely; unfortunately, however, vehicles often do.

If you need to repair your vehicle, consider purchasing used auto parts. Doing so offers many advantages over new parts such as their cost and reliability.

Affordability and Cost-Effectiveness

Used auto parts can save you significant money – particularly if purchased from a salvage yard that offers both return and warranty policies.

Recycled auto parts also contribute to environmental conservation by eliminating new manufacturing processes, energy consumption, and raw material extraction as well as decreasing accumulation in landfills.

Grade A

Professional salvage yards don’t offer discounts if you pay cash; however, their price won’t increase if you use credit or debit card instead of cash payment.

Grade A used auto parts are of superior quality, showing minimal signs of wear. Body components should only need one unit of repair while mechanical components should not have reached more than 60,000 miles in mileage.

Grade B

Depending on the part, ARA sets different grading standards. For body parts, grade A means no damage or one unit of repair — for instance repairing a door dent with no major impact damage.

Reputable salvage yards and auto recyclers thoroughly inspect and test used car parts before selling them, often offering warranties or guarantees to ensure consumers feel secure about the quality and price. Furthermore, purchasing refurbished or reconditioned parts can sometimes save even more money.

Grade C

Reputable salvage yards and parts sellers provide quality assured components, alleviating concerns over quality. Furthermore, most car warranties allow used auto parts to be installed.

Used auto parts are graded using the Automotive Recyclers Association’s (ARA) Grading system, which categorizes them based on wear and damage levels. Grade A parts require no repair while grade B have additional wear but remain functional; grade C parts have some wear but still provide adequate performance.

Grade D

Recyclers use grades to indicate the level of wear and tear on used car parts that has been recycled; these grades are determined by the Automotive Recyclers Association.

“A” grade parts require either no damage or one “unit of repair”, such as a door with minor denting. Grade B parts have slighter wear while grade C parts require two or more repairs to function effectively.

Grade E

Automotive Recyclers Association (ARA) part grades help automotive recyclers standardize the condition of used car parts they sell. Category A parts have no damage or one “unit” of repair — for instance a door with minor denting – while category B parts contain one damage repair unit such as replacing one door panel.

Grade F

Grade F parts represent the bottom tier of ARA’s grading system. They often show signs of wear more easily than grade A parts and can provide cost savings by compromising some quality for cost efficiency. Sheet metal auto body parts generally fall within this category — such as fixing small dent in door panel — while mechanical parts may require up to two units of repair each time they’re used in repairs; two repairs per component could be possible depending on its nature.

Grade G

Auto parts manufacturing and sales is an enticing and flourishing industry that brings multiple advantages to consumers. Not only are cost-effective repairs offered through this sector, but these parts also reduce waste while helping promote sustainability.

Used auto parts are created from recycled car components and refurbished or reconditioned to make sure they function effectively and safely before they’re sold as new. This process helps ensure the best experience with each part.

Grade H

Though many may hesitate to purchase secondhand parts, quality components can often be found at salvage yards. Not only is purchasing used auto parts affordable and reliable; purchasing used parts helps reduce waste while conserve resources.

Select a salvage yard that frequently collaborates with other recyclers – this will enable them to locate what parts you require even if it is not currently in their inventory.

Grade I

Metal materials make a fantastic choice for car parts and components due to their strength, flexibility and ability to be formed into shapes easily. Metal can also be easily formed to fit different car shapes and sizes more readily than most other materials.

Recyclers use the Automotive Recyclers Association (ARA) part grades system to assess used auto parts they sell, with A grade parts in good condition with no damage; B grade parts having one repair unit; while C grade parts needing two or more.
