The Summit by Traxxas™ is it a monster truck or a rock crawler?

It is a combination of both, an extreme terrian Rc truck.

With the release of the Summit Traxxas™ engineers have again come up with many new innovations for this truck. This Rc Truck is two trucks in one, it is a combination monster truck and rock crawler making it an extreme terrain monster truck.

Traxxas™ again has showed why they are one of the leaders, if not thee leader, in the radio controlled industry.

Traxxas™ has loaded this rc truck with many new innovations that could easily make it one of the most versatile monster trucks on the market today.

The two key features of the Summit that give it the ability to be both a monster truck and a rock crawler are the T-Lock differentials and two speed high/low transmission.

A two speed transmission is nothing new, but what makes this transmission unique is it's low range 70:1 gear ratio and high range 25:1 gear ratio. These two gear ratios give you the speed to tear up the trail in high range and have the torque required to go rock climbing.

To get the traction and grip needed for rock crawling the differentials need to be locked. To lock the differentials on the Summit all you need to do is flip the T-Lock switch on the transmitter.

This gives you the ability lock the front differential if you need the front to dig or lock the rear for full time 4WD. Changing from high/low range and locking the differentials is all done by flipping a switch on the transmitter.

You will not need to tear the transmission apart to change gear ratios or the differentials to install lockers.

In designing the Summit Traxxas™ decided that this truck was going to be able to run in any kind of conditions.

Now you can still bash around in the wet, mud and even the snow. All the electronics on the Summit are waterproof.

Create Your Own

Traxxas™ has equipped this truck with the EVX-2 electronic speed controller, a sealed receiver box and sealed servos all of which are waterproof. So, we no longer have to wait for the ideal conditions to go out and enjoy our rc monster/crawler truck.

Let's go play in the water, mud and snow.

We all know the demands that high grip tires and low speed rock crawling can put on steering servos. Like the Revo Traxxas™ has equipped the Summit with there famous dual-steering system.

Each of these steering servos deliver 125 oz. in. of torque for a total of 250 oz. in. of torque at a transit time of .16-second.

This will make the Summit capable of conquering the toughest terrain we could throw at it.

To power it through or up any obstacle that it encounters Traxxas™ has installed there high torque Titan 775 motor. Traxxas™ has mounted the Titan 775 motor low and tight to chassis to obtain the lowest center of gravity possible.

To handle the torque and power produced by the Titan 775, Traxxas™ has installed an over-sized steel idler gear and there patent pending Torque Control Slipper clutch.

Also, Traxxas™ realized the combination of locked differentials, a high torque motor and high traction tires was going to place a huge strain on the driveline.

So, they equipped it with new dual telescoping CV-style driveshafts and axles.

These axles and driveshafts are an industry first that are smooth sliding, curvilinear splined with pinned CV joints that support the full diameter of the shaft. The axles and driveshafts are designed to withstand the heaviest tough loads and not pop the joint.

To keep the center of gravity as low as possible Traxxas™ has designed a new molded chassis for there electric powered monster trucks.

This chassis has the battery compartments built into the chassis. These battery compartments have quick release doors, are vented for cooling and are adjustable to accept a variety of battery configurations.

By incorporating the battery compartments into the chassis allows the Summit to climb steeper grades, have greater side hill stability and be more responsive at high speed.

This truck will probably never be a good racer, but it will be a very versatile basher that is a ton of fun.

Being able to have a Rc truck that is a combination monster truck/rock crawler could easily take the place of two Rc trucks in your stable.

You combine the experience of Traxxas™ in the Rc industry and all the features of the Summit and you will have a Rc truck that is tough, durable and extremely reliable. Add to that the all weather capability the Summit is nothing less of a great Rc Truck.
