HPI Firestorm.

by Mick Green
(Leicester England)

This truck was my second nitro rc, my first being an Acme NB16T truggy. What a massive difference it was. The Firestorm is far stronger than the truggy and I haven't managed to break it from a crash. It did have head-on with my son's atomic warhead and his lost (sorry Evan)
It handles brilliantly once you have mastered it and becomes very rewarding, and fun to drive.
As it is 2 wheel drive it is really easy to maintain so there is no excuse for a poorly looking truck but in my opinion it's not perfect- the rear springs were way too soft so had to change for stronger ones and the fiber disc brake is not as positive as I would like, either the servo needs upgrading or because of the brake being so close to the engine it fouls up with oil.
I have fitted a set of HPI dish wheels with Geolander's at the back and proline blades at the front purely out of vanity, personalization or bling bling whatever you want to call but the original wheels and tires are very good on almost any surface.
One other issue I had is that as it was RTR the carb factory settings were way off, HSN too lean LSN too rich so you cannot really go back to base settings when you have been tuning and lost it, as a newb this was and still is a worry as the DVD that came with the Firestorm was a generic tuning DVD and following the DVD exactly my engine wouldn't run at all.
To sum up I love this truck and would recommend it to anyone apart from a complete novice as this thing can really shift.
