Locking differentials by: Douglas
Nick, what you need to do is remove your front and rear differentials from your truck. Take note on just how the differentials are mounted, so you reinstall them correctly. Now remove the screws that hold the ring gear to the differential case. The differential case will be filled with either gear oil or grease. Remove the grease or oil and clean in inside of the differential case. The cross pins and bevel gears inside the case may fall out when you empty or clean the case, reinstall the cross pins and bevel gears. Now you are ready for the JB Weld. Mix the two parts of JB Weld on a small piece of card board or plastic and fill the differential case till at least the cross pins are covered. If you like you can completely fill the differential case. But there is no need to do that just make sure that the cross pins are covered and half of the bevel gears.
Nick, when you use JB Weld to lock your differentials it is permanent. There is no going back to regular 4WD. If you do what to go back to regular 4WD you will need new differential cases, cross pins and bevel gears.
I hope this makes sense and good luck crawling Doug
