1. 3mm ALUMINUM CHASSIS. The gray anodized main chassis is a 3mm-thick aluminum plate that has radius sides to enhance rigidity. A large central opening allows the top of the transmission to poke out so that the spur gear can mate with the clutch bell on the engine. Cutouts in the chassis sides make room for the 4-link bars and shocks. Two plastic side plates hang below the main chassis, and the sides of the transmission and suspension are mounted on them.
6. ALUMINUM SHOCKS. XTM Racing™ borrowed the shocks form its X-Terminator 1/8-scale racing buggy and put them to good use on the X-Factor. The aluminum dampers use clip-on preload spacers to adjust ride height, and rubber boots protect the shock shafts from mud and debris.
7. CANTILEVER SUSPENSION. The X-Factor's cantilevers aren't just for style; they're used to give the truck more suspension travel than the shocks alone could provide. The cantilevers pivot on plastic mounts attached to the upper chassis plate, and they're connected to the axles with steel tie rods.
10. FOUR-LINK SUSPENSION. The X-Factor 2 is the first nitro-powered monster truck to use a 4-link suspension system. The two upper links are triangular to prevent the axle from moving form side to side; the two bottom links are parallel. Steel hex stock and heavy-duty ball ends make up each link. Sway bars are attached to the lower links, and steel rods connect the axle to the cantilever on the chassis.
